Cluj-Napoca, besides being the capital of Cluj, is also the historical capital of Transylvania. The first certification of an establishment within the current teritory of Cluj was made by the greek geographer Claudius Ptolemeu, mentioning here one of the most semnificative localities in Dacia, named Napoca. The first attestation of roman Napoca dates from the immidiatly following period of the conquering wars of Dacia, years 107–108.
The Cluj citadel earned it’s european reputation by the XV century.
